Exceptional value for a tour visiting the capital Quito, Riobamba, colonial Cuenca the Avenue of Volcanoes and enjoy a ride on the Devil's Nose railway, plus option to extend to the enchanted Galapagos Islands

Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in South America, yet a fascinatingly diverse country with dramatic topography and a variety of climatic zones, vegetation, bird and wildlife. Charming Quito, the first UNESCO Heritage Site declared in 1978, the colonial city of Cuenca in the highlands, the ‘Pacific Pearl’ Guayaquil and a traversal of the Volcano corridor that runs down the spine of Ecuador between the peaks of its two major mountain ranges.

Most of the mountains that line this corridor are volcanic and several are still active, nine of the country’s ten tallest summits watch over it and hundreds of Quechua-speaking Indian communities farm its rich volcanic soils in much the same way as they have done since the days of the Inca Empire.

The Devil’s Nose is an almost perpendicular rock face that drops from an Andean plateau at an altitude of over 2300 metres to the coastal plains below and affording spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The railway line that negotiates this natural wonder was completed in 1908 and is just as much a wonder itself.
