Robin Pope Safaris

A special arrangement with a prestigious safari company in Zambia’s premier national park, South Luangwa combined with Malawi, a stunning African gem with dramatic scenery, wildlife and welcoming people

Robin Pope founded his safari company 30 years ago establishing a high reputation for small, luxurious, intimate and remote camps in pristine wilderness areas, with unrivalled game viewing by vehicle, boat and foot. Most recently, Kuthengo Camp at Liwonde National Park, Malawi has been added inspiring us to combine Zambia’s famous South Luangwa National Park, with Malawi, the heart of Africa.

South Luangwa is best known for its breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife. From the park’s lodges pass by baobab trees, elephant herds and giraffes whilst impalas, pukus, waterbucks and buffalo wander on the wide-open plains. The Luangwa River is crowded with hippos and leopards hunt in the dense woodlands. A highlight of the savannah is the bird life with large birds such as snake eagles, bateleurs and ground hornbills easy to spot.

This itinerary offers an excellent chance to experience Malawi before mass tourism. This peaceful, central African country is renowned for its friendly people and host to a diverse kaleidoscope of stunning scenery. Its big draw is Lake Malawi, stretching 500km along the eastern border. Bordered by the Shire River, Liwonde National Park is home to elephant, hippo and crocodile, sable antelope, impala, reedbuck and prolific birdlife. A colonial legacy may be seen in the architecture of towns – independence from the British was in 1964. Modern-day Malawi credits its people as its greatest asset, friendly, welcoming and vibrant. None of this comes at a low price but this special arrangement allows Jules Verne guests this experience at an introductory tariff including all game viewing food and drinks on safari.
