Discover Tajikistan
Tajikistan, a former Persian settlement, is found between Afghanistan and China, and is land steeped in history and natural splendour. Over 90% of the land is upland, offering some of the most inspiring, high-altitude landscape in the world. Tajikistan is a wild and rugged region where you’ll find yurt-dwelling farmers, breath-taking lakes and the Pamir Highway – the world’s second highest road.
Whether following along the edge of Tajikistan, running next to the Pyanj River or winding across the remote high-altitude pastures, the Pamir Highway is definitely one of the most spectacular in the world and one of Asia’s greatest road trips.
The lakes are equally as stunning as the mountainous landscapes. The largest body of water is Karakul lake, located in the Tajik National Park in the Pamir Mountains in Tajikistan's.
The town of Istaravshan is an ancient centre of trade and crafts, and still has a craftsman’s quarter today, offering the arts from blacksmiths workshops, woodcarvers, as well as and tiny hidden houses.
