Venice & the Ducal Cities

Cruise from Venice on the Venetian lagoon to Mantua along the Canal Bianco on board the MS Michelangelo including excursions to Verona, Mantua and Cremona

Of course the famed Doges (dukes) ruled a great Empire from Venice, but nearby cities, some founded by the Romans before the creation of Venice, had their own dukes whose lands and riches created a wonderful artistic and architectural history.

Canal Bianco is a seaworthy canal linking Mantua in Lombardy to the Adriatic Sea through the Veneto region, including Verona.

Verona, once ruled by the Scaliger dukes, also reveals its Roman heritage at the Arena, the third largest Roman amphitheatre in existence, whilst a certain balcony evokes the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet.

Mantua is one of the most artistically rich cities in northern Italy, a former ducal capital of the House of Gonzaga.
