An unforgettable experience for avid adventurers, the White Continent is a world of its own, an inhospitable wilderness where wonderful wildlife, jaw-dropping landscapes, and gigantic icebergs reward the explorers who reach its shores. This cruise takes you there in the stylish luxury of the environment-friendly MV Ocean Victory or MV Ocean Albatros. What you see and exactly where you go will depend on the ocean, the ice, and the weather conditions, and on the whims of the wildlife, from whales to seals and penguins. However, with its fleet of Zodiac landing craft and its team of expedition guides, the polar vessel’s pioneering design allows you to traverse the Drake Passage, its strong westerly winds nicknamed The Roaring Fifties; and to get close to nature, delve into inlets and bays, see the seabirds circling the South Shetland Islands, and set out on foot to hike on an Antarctic glacier. The ship sails from Ushuaia, overlooking the Beagle Channel in the Tierra del Fuego, and long recognised as the southernmost city in the world; and the tour is bookended by a very different tempo in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, with its European look, Latin American rhythm, and ‘milonga’ tango shows.
The itinerary and activities during our Antarctica experience are dependent on weather and ice conditions.
The final route, landfalls and shore landings will be determined by the captain and expedition leader and communicated to guests through regularly scheduled briefings.
This is a full itinerary with many visits on foot including some uneven or slippery surfaces.
Some cruise excursions involve the use of zodiac boats and are subject to weather conditions.
Groups will be divided for cruise sightseeing, the cruise vessel takes a maximum of 210 passengers.
The programme may be altered due to navigational factors with locks, water levels or congestion at certain sites.
