Highlights of Northern India

SOLO GROUP DEPARTURE
14 April 2024
REGIONAL FLIGHT OPTIONS

A mesmerising mix of northern India’s most iconic places, from Agra’s Taj Mahal to lakeside palaces in Udaipur, the Blue City of Jodhpur, rose-pink Jaipur, and the wildlife of Ranthambore National Park

Encapsulating the colour, character and charisma of northern India’s sights and cities, and adding the chance to track the tigers of Ranthambore reserve, this is an excellent introduction to the landmarks, lifestyles, and dizzying diversity of this remarkable region. Travelling by road allows time to witness everyday life in rural towns and remote villages, and to contrast them with the magnificent temples and Maharaja’s palaces in our destinations. Discovery begins in Old Delhi, assaulting the senses with a chaos of cultural heritage, and countless relics of its chequered past; then tours to Agra to visit the Red Fort and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the exquisitely opulent Taj Mahal. We explore the eerily deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, and visit Bundi’s summer palace and elaborate Queen’s Stepwell, enroute to Udaipur, living up to its reputation as the ‘romance of Rajasthan’ with the graceful façades of temples and palaces, reflected in Lake Pichola’s waters. At Jodhpur, in the stark Thar Desert, the immense Mehrangarh Fort towers above the blue-painted buildings and stepped alleyways at its feet; and Jaipur, the regal Pink City, teams 18th-century palaces with clusters of colourful spice stalls.
