A Royal Steamer Restored

The whole trip was fantastic, I did not want to leave, would have been quite happy to turn around and do the trip again.

November 2017 - Fiona Gowenlock Egypt

I last toured Egypt 10 years ago and enjoyed it and so decided to return. Again, there was the wonderful weather; again we saw some fantastic sites - the Valley of the Kings, various temples and the Nile itself - what better way than to relax in the sun on the top deck and watch the scenery float past? Last time I had been relegated to a single cabin below the main deck with the noise of the engine, the vibration and the dreaded, small round port hole window. On this magnificent boat two lucky single travellers can occupy a dedicated single cabin on the main deck - complete with not just a large window but a glass door that opens onto your own balcony! Yes this is a restored boat so no modern double glazed fitted door, but that just lets in a little fresh air, and yes a bit of noise (we docked next to a night club one evening) and smells (the locals burn vegetation on the river banks), but to be able to open a door and stand on your own balcony first thing in the morning, or in the evening is glorious. And yes, being a single cabin it is smaller than the others but I found it plenty of room to move around and store my stuff. The captain and his crew were 100% lovely, polite, friendly, always smiling. The food was plentiful - we even had a four course lunch one day! And afternoon tea every day! The whole trip was fantastic, I did not want to leave, would have been quite happy to turn around and do the trip again. In fact I am saving up and hope to do the long cruise next time. 100% recommend it.
