The Charm of the Cotswolds

Experience gardens galore, grandeur and 2000 years of history as we discover Royal Castles, Romans Baths, towers and nature, exploring the hidden gems of the Cotswold Region

Undulating gracefully across west-central England, covering five counties, the Cotswolds region is a delightful tangle of golden villages, thatched cottages, evocative churches and honey-coloured mansions. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this range of hills filled with rustic rural charm, vibrant market towns and picture-perfect villages, offers nearly 800 square miles of unspoilt countryside. The Roman legions arrived in 43AD and stayed for the next 350 years. The region owes its wealth, and exquisite architecture, to the medieval wool trade, when ‘Cotswold Lion’ sheep were prized across Europe. Reminders of these times can still be seen today in Tetbury, the southern gateway to the Cotswolds, an architectural gem with many merchants’ houses remaining as they were in the 16th and 17th century. Delve into history at Sudeley Castle and Gardens, scale the heights of Broadway Tower and surround yourself with nature at Westonbirt Arboretum as you discover one of Britain’s most spectacular locations. Immerse yourself in the best of the Cotswold region, visiting iconic towns and villages. Discover stunning heritage sites as well as incredible gardens, including the gardens at Highgrove, the private home of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. Hailed by William Morris in the 19th century as encapsulating a timeless English rural idyll, The Cotswolds remains a treasured destination. With amazing views around every corner and over the Cotswold escarpment, you’ll be enthralled by the pace and charm of quintessential England.
