Exceptional value to experience the magnificence of St. Petersburg & Moscow linked by a high-speed train, includes visits to the Hermitage & Kremlin
St. Petersburg - 4 nights
Moscow - 2 nights
St. Petersburg was created just over 300 years ago by Peter the Great as his ‘Window on the West’. The most beautiful of Russian cities is a city unlike any other in Europe and certainly in Russia. The construction of the city started with the citadel of St. Petersburg, now the Peter and Paul Fortress, which was built to Domenico Trezzini’s design as a star fortress. This set the start of the development of the city by Italian and French architects to transform marshland into a great city, dubbed as ‘Venice of the North’, full of canals, cathedrals and palaces. The city has been restored to its former glory since the fall of Communism.
Moscow is one of the world’s most opulent and fascinating capitals. A city of contrasts where ancient monasteries stand side by ultra-modern skyscrapers. The Kremlin constructed by Italian masters from 1485 to 1495, is still at the heart of Moscow – symbolically, historically and strategically. The vast expanse of Red Square, measuring 500 metres in length, is flanked by the striking St. Basil’s Cathedral and GUM department store.
