Exceptional value to visit Italy’s three greatest cities by train with guided tours in each city and plenty of free time to explore, from the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome to the cultural heritage of Florence and the glories of Venice
Rome - 4 nights
Florence - 3 nights
Venice - 3 nights
This highlights tour has been carefully designed to distil the authentic Jules Verne experience into a concise arrangement, shorter and more affordable. It ‘highlights’ Italy’s three great cities that surely must be visited and re-visited by all interested travellers, including introductions or ‘refreshers’ for each city but allowing time for independent exploration. Travel between cities is by the Italian network of high speed trains, a relaxing alternative to road.
Rome was once the heart of a vast Empire but the ‘Eternal City’ has also a spiritual side, so we propose our usual convent guesthouse on a hill 15 minutes’ walk from the Vatican with a lounge, breakfast room, gardens and 11pm curfew.
The Renaissance rulers of Florence and Tuscany profoundly influenced our culture and civilisation, leaving a legacy of great masterpieces. Fine works of art are displayed in the museums, palaces and churches.
It was due to the threat from invaders that Venetians retreated to the lagoon and created a unique and wonderful haven of islands and canals.
