The Colours of Provence & Beaujolais - Solo Group Departure

By plane or train to Lyon, visit the landscapes, heritage and tastes of the Rhône, Saône, Avignon, Arles, Viviers, Tain-l’Hermitage and Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or

The waterways of France combine beautiful countryside with historic towns and villages – without the hassle of road travel! The landscapes of Provence that so inspired Cézanne and Van Gogh, and the scenery of the Rhône valley are best enjoyed from the river. The most famous of the many beautiful bridges lies, of course, in historic Avignon, the main residence of seven Popes – how amazing to find a Pope’s Palace in France, definitely adding to your knowledge of religious history and tying together threads from other visits to France, Italy and beyond. Avignon is also a charming town whilst Arles with its Roman amphitheatres will not disappoint. Lyon is more rewarding than expected whilst smaller towns include Roman Vienne, the attractive Tain L’Hermitage and the quaint Collongnes-au-Mont-d’Or, home to the late chef Paul Bocuse known for his ground-breaking approach in culinary.
