IMAGES OF THE MEKONG

Indochina including a one-week cruise along the Mekong, overnight cruise at Ha Long Bay, Luang Prabang and the temples of Angkor

Relied upon by ninety million people in five countries, life on the Mekong is enlivened by the many colourful traders, floating villages and attractive towns. Tonle Sap, known as the ‘Great Lake’, is South East Asia’s largest freshwater lake, designated a UNESCO biosphere in 1997. However, with their enduring timelessness, it is the vast Hindu/Buddhist temple complex at Angkor that will linger in the memory. The calmer experience of the Mekong at Luang Prabang will however run Angkor a close second.
