DISCOVER LAOS AND CAMBODIA

Ancient heritage and scenic beauty from Luang Prabang through the lesser-known southern Laos to the temples of Angkor

This arrangement offers a fascinating insight into little-known Indochina, ideal for those who have visited Vietnam and want to explore further.

Local colour sometimes equates to 'tourist shows', but in Laos it is the Tagbat: 2,000 monks walking around Luang Prabang at 6am in a ceremony embraced by local people. In fact, the gentle people and beautiful scenery may stay longer in the memory than the impressive temples and palaces. Unknown southern Laos reveals the Mekong's '4,000 Islands' and Khone waterfalls, the biggest in Asia, the Khmer empire temples of Wat Phou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and remote Bolaven Plateau where tea and Café Lao are grown.

Improving roads allow a 'cross country' route to Cambodia's awe-inspiring temples of Angkor. Explore remote Battambang, rural villages and the fascinating capital of Phnom Penh, where ancient and royal heritage contrasts with the French colonial past and still recent memories of the Khmer Rouge regime.
