From Jerusalem to Petra

A journey through time, where past and present seem intertwined, this intriguing tour visits Roman ruins and biblical cities, desert camps and mystical monuments, and Red Sea and Dead Sea shores

A tour of two halves, three creeds, and 2,000 years of history, this journey begins in Israel.

Stretching from northern highlands to the southern Negev desert, with western coastal plains and, to the east, the last miles of the Great Rift Valley, Israel is as varied in its terrain as it is complex in its culture, history and politics. From metropolitan Tel Aviv, we travel to Haifa; splendid synagogue mosaics; biblical scenes in Nazareth and in Capernaum, on Lake Galilee’s shore; and to Jerusalem, today a contested city.

Historic Jordan is home to souks and citadels, lunar landscapes, desert dunes in sunset hues, and the salt-dense depths of the Dead Sea. Our tour here begins in refreshing Aqaba, and includes a desert drive to Wadi Rum; revelations of Petra’s astonishing pink rock monuments, a secret seen only by Bedouins for six centuries; and the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth.
