Taj Mahal, Golden Temple, Rajasthan, hill stations, tigers and heritage hotels including 8 UNESCO World Heritage sites

Any visit to India is best started at Mumbai's 'Gateway to India' and the 'Golden Triangle' that comprises Jaipur, Agra and Delhi.

The imperial glory of the Mughals is best shown in the mausoleums, mosques and palaces of their capitals at Agra, Delhi and Fatehpur Sikri, the highlight being the incomparable Taj Mahal.

Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodhpur reveal the princely heritage of Rajasthan and Ranthambore National Park offers the chance to spot one or more of its increased tiger population.

The era of the British Raj is reflected in the architectural heritage of Lutyens’ New Delhi and the summer hill station capital, Shimla, contrasting with Sikhism’s most holy shrine, the spectacular Golden Temple at Amritsar and the dramatic Wagah Border ceremony.

Train journeys that are part of the Indian experience include Shimla’s unforgettable narrow gauge ‘Toy Train’ through countless tunnels and over bridges, a scenically spectacular journey.
