Discover old Saigon, cruise on the Mekong River and mystical Ha Long Bay, see the temples in Hue, Hoi An, Hanoi and ancient Angkor, and explore Laos home to luxuriant landscapes and intriguing cultural customs; and Cambodia encapsulates Indo-Chinese heritage in ancient Angkor

Once administered as a single entity, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia were collectively termed ‘Indochina’, a concise description of their Indian Hindu and Chinese Buddhist heritage. This tour takes you, via rivers and islands, from their varied origins to vibrant cities. Ho Chi Minh City is an astonishing transformation of Saigon, an amalgam of past and present. Amiable and uncrowded, My Tho hems a river scene of sampans, cruisers, and cargo boats, where the Mekong Delta flows with a swan-like serenity on the surface and a bustling commerce paddling briskly beneath. Spread beside the Perfume River, Hue’s huge UNESCO listed citadel is a centre of culture, religion, and cuisine; while Hoi An is a tranquil little town, an architectural portrait of its past, with Chinese temples and wooden shophouses, colonial buildings, and the Japanese Bridge. Ha Long Bay is spangled with hundreds of islands and islets; and Hanoi is as lovely as it is historic, with twenty lakes, and a thousand years of culture. In Laos, beguiling Luang Prabang is filled with long-hidden temples, and steeped in a sense of timelessness. Cambodia teams the world’s largest religious complex, Angkor, with Phnom Penh’s mix of sumptuous and sombre monuments.
