Highlights of Burma

Exceptional value for a new tour from the former British colonial capital of Mandalay and the pagodas of Bagan and Yangon to the hill station of Kalaw and Inle Lake

This highlights tour is carefully designed to distil the Jules Verne experience into a concise arrangement, shorter and more affordable.

Bagan, a city of 3,000 pagodas, each with its own story, is one of South East Asia’s great archaeological treasures. According to Sir James Scott “Bagan is in many respects the most remarkable religious city in the world… the whole space is thickly studded with pagodas of all sizes and shapes… you cannot move a foot or hand without touching something sacred”. Today, the view across Bagan Plain remains one of the most striking on Earth, redbrick pagoda occasionally interrupted by a tall white spire reaching skywards.

Mandalay is the former British colonial capital and the market town for neighbouring mountain regions of the Shan and Kachin people. Burma’s main city, Rangoon is a city of style and dilapidated grandeur.
