Serengeti and the Secret Migration

Witness the Great Migration with magnificent views from elevated balconies of unique bush rovers and explore Ngorongoro crater

The Great Migration comprises massive groups of wildebeest, zebra and antelope continually moving in search of the best grass, stalked by the great cats and at risk of ambush by crocodile at river crossings. It is in fact a circular movement around the Serengeti throughout the year (see map) from the Grumeti river up to the Mara river and down to the Ngorongoro Highlands, among the Gol Mountains and the Ndutu area.

Our innovative safari, exclusive to the UK, utilises Bush Rovers sited according to the season and current location of the migration, meaning this 'Secret Migration' may be observed away from the busiest sites across the entire eco-system throughout the year. Indeed the Bush Rovers are the recent winner of the Nat Geo Traveller "BIG SLEEP AWARDS" (Happy Glampers category 2017!).

Few countries in the world are as exciting as Tanzania. Firstly, there is its scenery. From the shortgrass savannah, which gives its name to Serengeti, and petrified violence of the Great Rift Valley to the coral sands of Zanzibar. Secondly, the wildlife is spectacular with arguably the greatest viewing potential of any country in the world. Discover two of the world’s best wildlife highlights, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro crater, the world’s largest complete volcanic caldera enclosing 100 square miles of prolific wildlife.

This is complemented by the beautiful but less lauded national parks of Tarangire amidst the hills of the Rift floor and Lake Manyara, a shallow soda lake attracting birdlife and animals.

Instead of backtracking to Kilimanjaro, this itinerary continues through western Serengeti to Lake Victoria where by way of contrast you can discover by boat and on foot the people and birdlife of the largest of Africa’s great lakes.
