We are pleased to announce a new programme in southern Tanzania, going off the beaten track to lesser-known reserves where it is possible to see vast numbers of animals but hardly another vehicle all day.
Tanzania Parks Authority is responsible for the national parks and thanks to their anti-poaching efforts, animal numbers have increased, especially large herds of elephant, giraffe and buffalo. Our partner ‘A Tent with a View’ is involved in conservation projects and in Saadani National Park founded the endangered green turtle project and an elephant project aiming to locate areas of human and elephant conflict. They are launching a lion collaring project to devise lion conservation strategies and to encourage the coexistence between people, livestock and predators. Learn about these programmes at the Simply Saadani camp where bush meets beach, its white sandy beach location is unique in East Africa.
Selous Game Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the second-largest protected area in the world, home to countless elephants, buffalo, hippos and lions yet it is one of the least visited game reserves in Africa.
Stone Town is the fascinating capital of the spice island of Zanzibar, home to the indigenous Red Colobus monkeys.
