A unique journey through the Nubian lands of Sudan to Egypt and cruise the Nile to Cairo on a ‘Pyramids to Pyramids’ adventure

Whilst Pharaonic Egypt is arguably Africa’s most famous ancient civilisation, less is known of its southern neighbour, the Nubians, who under the Kingdom of Kush conquered Egypt and established a dynasty of their own. Kush occupied a strategic position, close to the gold mines and the trade route from the heart of the continent. Meroe was a wealthy metropolis of this ancient kingdom, in today’s Sudan. Kush existed during Egypt’s Old and Middle Kingdoms based around Kerma, just above the Third Cataract.

As Lower Egypt fell to the Hyksos, the Kingdom of Kush became the dominant power until Egypt was invaded by the Assyrians. Never part of the Roman Empire, its power declined and raids by nomads sapped its power. Then the emerging Kingdom of Axum in Ethiopia captured the capital of Meroe ending the Kingdom of Kush.

This exciting arrangement combines these old kingdoms with temples, pyramids and cruising 600 miles along the Nile from Aswan to Cairo and the Pyramids.
