From Cape Town to Pretoria on 'the most luxurious train in the world' with the option to continue to Victoria Falls and stay at the iconic Victoria Falls Hotel

Whilst we would not normally feature a claim such as the 'most luxurious train in the world', our long and special association with Rovos Rail and the positive feedback from our clients over the years has emboldened us to print this claim.

Rovos Rail comprises coaches of 1950’s vintage, built to high standards. The steam locomotives are museum pieces used mainly for departure and arrivals at its private station in Pretoria. Otherwise it is hauled by diesel or electric.

Travel slowly in luxury from Cape Town to the South African capital of Pretoria, normally at just 40mph, allowing enjoyment of the spectacular scenery from the open observation car.

The vision of Cecil Rhodes at the end of the nineteenth century was a plan to link adjacent African possessions of the British Empire through a continuous rail link from the Cape to Cairo.

Alas the dream never materialised but with the Victoria Falls Bridge completed in 1905 the southern section between Cape Town and the Zambezi came into operation.

All aboard! Travel in comfort and discover the scenic Southern Africa.
