Be prepared for spectacular scenery overflowing with wildlife as you unravel the habitat of some of the world’s most astounding animals. Stay at an exclusive lodge on a private island surrounded by the mighty Zambezi River offering a unique and intimate experience. Chobe National Park and river boasts more than 250 species of animals such as crocodiles, buffalo, hippos, zebra, giraffe, leopard, lion and the largest concentration of elephants in Africa.
CroisiEurope’s luxury ship, the African Dream is a small ship with fine gastronomy, revealing the secrets of Lake Kariba, a haven for birdlife, hippos, crocodiles and a water source that attracts elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah and antelopes. This voyage takes you to Matusadona National Park where thousands of animals were relocated when the lands were flooded by the Kariba Dam, creating a great environment for buffaloes, waterbucks, zebras, elephants and impala.
Once the home of San bushmen, Hwange was the royal hunting ground for Matabele King Mzilikazi before wildlife conservation started in 1928. Zimbabwe’s largest and most prolific game reserve boasts varied landscapes and tremendous wildlife including most notably massive herds of elephant and a healthy population of predators including lion and cheetah plus zebra, buffalo, giraffe, kudu, impala, wildebeest and sable. Animals rely on waterholes facilitating excellent game viewing as wildlife congregates.
The spectacular sight of Victoria Falls is perhaps Africa’s most famous landmark – over 100 metres high and 1,700 metres wide.
These safaris and Victoria Falls are rewarding experiences all year. The dry season (Jun-Oct), is the preferred time for safaris when animals are drawn to the permanent water. January to May offer the best flow through the Falls (but some photographers prefer a later date with less spray!) and a green season when many animals have their young and the lush landscape is decorated with wildflowers.
