Iceland Tours
Written by Adam Skilbeck - Customer Services Coordinator, who recently travelled to Iceland and joined our Geysers and Glaciers tour.
"Having recently returned from an excellent Iceland tour I feel revitalised and would definitely consider returning in the future to explore further afield. The small town feel of Reykjavik and the natural wonders of the surrounding area resulted in a perfect combination. The guide was informative and efficient throughout and the Borgartun Guest House although located on the fringes of central Reykjavik, was quiet but a sociable environment.
The tour is well balanced between the free time in Reykjavik and the enjoyable sightseeing programme, both included and optional. Reykjavik itself although relatively small for a capital city, with most of it within walking distances, had all the facilities expected with a wide range of restaurants to suit all tastes from locally-caught whale meat to Argentinean steaks.
The Golden Circle excursion offers an extensive look at the main natural wonders within easy access of Reykjavik. The three main sights are all very worthwhile to visit. Thingvellir has particular importance to the Iceland nation, as the location of not only its first parliament, but that of the world. The tour includes stops at the thundering Gullfoss waterfall and the interesting natural phenomenon of the Geysir.
I also joined in the South Shore Adventure tour, which takes the group on a modern four-wheel drive coach along the coastline of southern Iceland. Although the main reason for visiting Iceland was for the natural sights it was also very interesting to see how local society intertwines with nature. An extensive array of waterfalls and the receding glaciers were fantastic to see along with the ever-changing landscape from the populated plains, to the high-rising volcanoes, to the black sand beaches."
