This new arrangement travels through Borneo by river, road and air to mountain ranges and forests, mangrove jungle and pristine beaches - encountering flora, fauna and peoples of astonishing diversity. The vessel will move to Burma after March, so this is the last chance for a Borneo ‘Pandaw’ cruise.

Waterways are plentiful and the Rajang River, the longest river in Malaysia, is known to some thanks to Redmond O’Hanlon’s classic “Into the Heart of Borneo”. With little tourism, this remote river region is populated by Iban tribespeople, head-hunters until the 1950s, and their unique longhouse culture survives to this day. Sarawak is home of the White Rajas, the erstwhile rulers. Kuching, known for its orangutan rehabilitation centre, is a delightful town of cafés and traditional houses. The serene Sarawak River flows through the centre, flanked by gorgeous Brooke Raj palaces, courts and a glistening white fort that marks the first White Raja’s landing. Mulu Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the largest cave complex in the world, with cave networks, rock pinnacles, cliffs and gorges. Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, lies on the South China Sea, overlooked by Mount Kinabalu, a National park and one of South-East Asia’s highest peaks.
