Day 1 Fly from London Heathrow, via Kuala Lumpur, to Kuching.

Day 2 On arrival, transfer to the 5-star Hilton for a two-night stay. At leisure.

Day 3 City tour of Kuching. Afternoon visit to the Sarawak Cultural Village. Witness demonstrations of traditional arts and crafts as well as performances of dance and music. Dinner at Jambu – a boutique restaurant housed in one of the “Rajah Brooke” era colonial bungalows.

Day 4 Visit Semonggok. Lunch en route. On arrival in Batang Ai travel by boat to the Hilton Batang Ai for a two-night stay.

Day 5 Travel by boat on the Engkari River to a traditional Iban Longhouse witnessing local tradition and a different way of life.

Day 6
Return to Kuching and continue by air to Kota Kinabalu. Transfer to the new and very comfortable Novotel 1Borneo, centrally located to shopping and dining for five nights.

Day 7 Morning tour of the city. Visit the Heritage Village and museum, drive by major landmarks and visit the Handicraft market.

Day 8 Optional full-day excursion to Mt Kinabalu National Park and Poring Rainforest. At over 13,000ft, Mt Kinabalu is Southeast Asia’s highest mountain and an UNESCO World Heritage site. Comprising the world’s oldest rainforest and popular for its cooler climate, the park offers a wealth of bio-diversity including rare orchids, mouse deer and red-leaf monkeys.

Day 9 Optional full-day excursion by air to Sandakan. Upon arrival, drive to the renowned Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, established in 1964. There is no guarantee of seeing an orangutan, but they usually turn up for their twice-daily feedings.

Day 10 Day at leisure.

Day 11 Early morning transfer to the airport for the flight, via Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow.

 

Extension - Kuala Lumpur

Stay two nights at the 5-star Renaissance Hotel. Located in the heart of KL’s Golden Triangle the hotel offers a choice of restaurants, bars and cafes, a vast swimming pool and fitness centre. 510 tastefully furnished rooms in the hotel’s East Wing with satellite television, safe, mini-bar and tea/coffee making facilities.
