Peru & Ecuador
Visiting two South American highlights, the Inca city of Machu Picchu and a week cruising the Galapagos Islands aboard Ecuador’s premier exploration vessel
Day 1 Fly from Heathrow, via New York or Miami, to Lima.
Day 2 Early morning arrival and transfer to the Boulevard Hotel, afternoon tour of colonial Lima.
Day 3 Fly to Cuzco and transfer to the Suenos del Inca Hotel
for a two night stay. An afternoon tour of the historic centre of Cuzco and the Inca sites of Sacsayhuaman, Tambo Machay, Kenko and Puca Pucara.
Day 4 An optional full-day tour visits the Pisac Indian market and the Inca settlement of Ollantaytambo.
Day 5 Travel to Machu Picchu. Afternoon exploring the site before an overnight stay at the Hotel Machu Picchu Inn.
Day 6 A morning at leisure to revisit the site. Return by train to Cuzco for a further two nights.
Day 7 At leisure in Cuzco.
Day 8 Return to Lima and the Hotel Boulevard.
Day 9 Fly to Guayaquil in Ecuador for an overnight stay at the Hotel Unipark.
Day 10 Fly to the Galapagos and embark on the MV Galapagos Explorer II.
Day 11 Sail to Bartolomé Island with its colonies of Galapagos penguins and fur seals and in the afternoon Santiago Island.
Day 12 Explore the islands of Isabela and Fernandina
with their large colonies of marine iguanas and sea lions, pelicans, flightless cormorants and Galapagos hawks.
Day 13 Visit North Seymour Island and Santa Cruz including a visit to a flamingo lagoon and land iguanas.
Day 14 Return to San Cristóbal to visit the sea lion beach and enjoy the birdlife of Junco Lagoon. Visit the local Interpretation Centre.
Day 15 Visit Española home to unique species, including the
Española mockingbird, the giant lava lizard, the marine iguana and the waved albatross.
Day 16 Visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island, and Rabida Island.
Day 17 Visit Bachas Beach on Santa Cruz before the return
flight to Guayaquil. Overnight at the Unipark Hotel.
Day 18 Fly from Guayaquil to London, via Madrid.
Day 19 Arrive Heathrow in the early morning.
