Day 1 Fly from London Heathrow, via Madrid or Paris, to Buenos Aires.
Day 2 Transfer to the Panamericano Hotel, or similar for a two-night stay.
Day 3 Free day to explore this historic city or take an optional tour.
Day 4 Fly to Ushuaia to board the MS Fram sailing in the early evening.
Days 5 & 6 Sailing across the Drake Passage, which connects two of the world’s great oceans, as the Atlantic meets the Pacific. Head towards the northernmost tip of Antarctica, the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands. Estimated arrival is the afternoon of Day 6.
Days 7-9 Three full days of Antarctic exploration are determined by ice and weather conditions and landing places will vary from cruise to cruise but possible visits are as follows: Yankee Harbour and Half Moon Island, the natural habitat of chinstrap penguins, kelp gulls and Antarctic terns; Deception Island, with its beautifully shaped caldera. Paradise Harbour and Neko Harbour and Port Lockroy, known for its gentoo penguins and blue-eyed cormorants. Humpback and fin whales are a common sight in this area.
Days 10 & 11 Depart for the Drake Passage and the 800-kilometre crossing heading towards Cape Horn. During the crossing there will be lectures and discussions with the on-board team of experts and naturalists.
Day 12 Arrive Ushuaia (there may be an opportunity to visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park) before transferring to the airport for the flight to Buenos Aires. Transfer to the Panamericano Hotel, or similar for an overnight stay.
Day 13 Return flight to London via Madrid.
Day 14 Arrive Heathrow in the morning.
