Damascus - 2 nights. Homs - 1 night. Aleppo - 2 nights. Beirut - 3 nights.

8-night itinerary (2010)

Day 1 Fly direct from London Heathrow to Damascus. Transfer to the 5-star Hotel Sheraton Sednaya or Ebla Sham near Damascus for two nights.

Day 2 Sightseeing in Damascus includes the National Museum, Street Called Straight, Church of Ananias, St. Paul’s Gate, Omayyad Mosque, Saladin’s Tomb and the Hamidiyeh souk.

Day 3 Travel to Palmyra and visit the Valley of the Tombs, necropolis, colonnaded street and temple of Baal. Later, travel to Homs for an overnight stay at the 5-star Hotel Safir or 4-star Mashta Al-Helu.

Day 4 Visit Qala’at Salah ad-Din castle and the site of Apamea. Continue to Aleppo for two nights at the 5-star Hotel Sheraton or Dedeman or 4-star Hotel Beit Salahieh.

Day 5 Full-day tour includes the 5th-century church of St. Simeon and in Aleppo visit the National Museum, Citadel, souk and the old city quarter of Jdayde.

Day 6 Visit Crac des Chevaliers with a brief stop at Hama en route and later cross the border at Aridah for the onward journey to Beirut in Lebanon. Spend three nights at the 5-star Hotel Le Commodore.

Day 7 In Byblos visit the Citadel, church of St. John the Baptist and old port. Later in Beirut visit the Corniche, restored city centre (Solideré) and National Museum.

Day 8 Visit the Chouf Mountains, the Emir Beshir Palace in Beiteddine and the Roman temples of Baalbeck.

Day 9 Return flight direct from Beirut to London Heathrow.

The sequential order of the tour is subject to local conditions and may change.
On occasion alternative hotels of a similar standard may be substituted.

Important note

The first two nights are spent in a hotel outside Damascus. However, on Day 2 the full day is spent in the city with a special dinner that night also held in the old town.
