Day 1 Fly from London Heathrow to Damascus. Transfer to the 4-star Sheraton Sednaya near Damascus for three nights.
Day 2 In Damascus visit the National Museum, Street Called Straight, Church of Ananias, St. Paul’s Gate, Omayyad Mosque, Saladin’s Tomb, Hamidiyeh souk and enjoy the view from Mount Qassioun.
Day 3 Visit the Roman and Nabataean site of Bosra with its well-preserved theatre and the basilica of St. George at Ezrae. ‘Dining in the Old Town’.
Day 4 Visit Maaloula, then continue to Hama, with its waterwheels and Azem Palace, and the Roman temple at Hosn Sulaiman. Two nights at the 4-star Hotel Mashta Al-Helu or Safir Homs in the Homs area.
Day 5 Visit the Monastery of St. George and Crac des Chevaliers castle.
Day 6 Visit Ugarit, then continue to Kassab for overnight at the 4-star Hotel Namar. Take lunch in Samra Valley with views of the Mediterranean and time for a walk.
Day 7 Visit Salah ad-Din’s castle and the well-preserved Roman site of Apamea. Four nights in Aleppo at an old town hotel or the 5-star Hotel Dedeman or Sheraton (click here for accommodation details).
Day 8 Visit the National Museum, Citadel, covered bazaars and old city quarter of Jdayde. ‘Dining in the Old Town’. Enjoy a night walk in the Citadel area.
Day 9 Visit St. Simeon and the Dead Cities of Albara and Serjilla.
Day 10 Day at leisure to explore Aleppo.
Day 11 Travel to the Euphrates River (3 hrs). At Resafe visit the monumental North Gate and walls, cathedral, Martyrion Church and Roman cisterns. Continue to Palmyra (3 hrs). View the sunset from the Castle above Palmyra. Overnight in Palmyra at the 5-star Hotel Dedeman or Semiramis or 4-star Zenobia Cham. Enjoy a night walk through the ruins.
Day 12 Morning visit of Palmyra includes the Valley of the Tombs, necropolis, Colonnaded Street and Temple of Baal. Continue to Damascus (3 hrs) for three nights at an old town hotel or the 5-star Hotel Cham Palace or Dedeman (click here for accommodation details).
Day 13 Morning Old City walking tour including Azem Palace.
Day 14 Day at leisure to explore Damascus.
Day 15 Return flight.
Important note
The first three nights are spent outside Damascus while the last three nights are spent in a centrally located hotel giving ample time in the city.
