Grand Tour of Jordan

Day 1Fly from London Heathrow to Amman by scheduled air and transfer to the Dead Sea for three nights.

Day 2 Day at leisure.

Day 3 Visit Bethany, Madaba and Mount Nebo.

Day 4 Visit Kerak castle. Continue to Petra for three nights.

Day 5 Morning guided visit of Petra (4 hrs of walking) and afternoon at leisure to explore independently (perhaps climb up to the Monastery, el-Deir). The Rock Camp Petra dinner.

Day 6 Return to Petra for a morning walk up to the High Place of Sacrifice. Afternoon free. A drink at the Nabataean Cave Bar has been arranged. Optional ‘Petra by candlelight’ to the Siq and Treasury (bookable locally).

Day 7 Visit Little Petra and continue to Tala Bay, 20 minutes’ drive south of Aqaba, for five nights. Afternoon tour of Aqaba includes Aqaba Fort and the Aquarium. Optional sunset cruise.

Day 8 Day at leisure.

Day 9 Optional morning excursion on the ‘Yellow Submarine’, a ‘see-through’ semi-submersible viewing the Red Sea’s marine splendours and Coral Reserve.

Day 10 Morning free. An optional afternoon excursion to Wadi Rum includes a 90-minute Bedouin jeep drive and dinner in a Bedouin tent with local musicians.

Day 11 An optional Red Sea cruise to Pharaoh’s Island includes a tour of the fort, barbecue lunch and option to snorkel.

Day 12 Follow the Wadi Araba Road along the Rift Valley to Ma’in (4 hrs) for overnight at the 5-star Evason Ma’in Hot Springs & Six Senses Spa. Afternoon to enjoy the hot springs.

Day 13 Visit the ‘Desert Castles’ and Azraq Wetland Reserve. Spend three nights in Amman.

Day 14 Travel north to Jerash and then to the Decapolis city of Umm Qais with a splendid view of Lake Tiberias.

Day 15 Full-day city tour of Amman.

Day 16 Morning return flight.
