Jerusalem & the Holy Land

The Holy Land is an intriguing and diverse land of great importance to three of the world’s major faiths – Christianity, Judaism and Islam. This programme explores the wonders of Israel and the Palestinian Territories, including an extended stay in Jerusalem, a crucial part of any Holy Land visit. Following renegotiations, we are pleased to offer reduced rates for 2011, compared with 2010, and including a better located and higher standard hotel in Jerusalem.In the north lies the childhood home of Jesus, Nazareth, whose spectacular Church of the Annunciation is believed to be where the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her of her forthcoming child. Israel’s main source of water comes from the Sea of Galilee, located 212 metres below sea level. It was here where Jesus lived, in the town of Capernaum, and nearby at Mount of Beatitudes is the site of the ‘Sermon on the Mount’. In Jerusalem, the Old and New Testaments come to life on the Mount of Olives and Via Dolorosa, in the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of the Holy Sepulchre and at Temple Mount and the ‘Wailing Wall’.

The opportunity is also given to visit Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Here lies one of the oldest continuously operating churches in the world and one of the holiest Christian sites, the Church of the Nativity.
