Day 1Fly from London Heathrow to Kathmandu via Delhi.
Day 2 Arrive Kathmandu (1,336 m) for two nights at Hotel Shangri-La.
Day 3 Early morning optional flight over Mount Everest (weather permitting). Approx. cost US$170 – bookable locally. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Tour of Kathmandu, Swayambunath and Patan City, with a drink at Rum Doodle Bar.
Day 4 Travel to Changu-Narayan visiting medieval Bhadgaon and Changunarayan Temple. Walk to Telkot (3 hrs). After a steep incline the path follows the undulating ridge with views of the Himalayas and Kathmandu Valley. Packed lunch included. Overnight at Hotel Bhangeri Durbar in Nagarkot (2,100 m).
Day 5 Fly to Pokhara (827 m) for two nights at Tiger Mountain. All 18 guest rooms have a private veranda with views of the Annapurna range. Opportunities for local walks along the trails in the hotel grounds. Visit Pokhara including a boat ride on Lake Phewa.
Day 6 Short drive to Kaliskasthan for a steady uphill walk through diverse cultural villages and farmland to Thulakot. Continue to Ramchekot whilst enjoying panoramic vistas of the Pokhara Valley. Descend gradually to Deomadi and back to Kalikasthan via Chitepani (4/5 hrs). Packed lunch included.
Day 7 Flight to Kathmandu and return to Hotel Shangri-La for the final night or transfer directly from Pokhara to Chitwan National Park by road (4 hrs) for the extension.
Day 8 Morning departure to London Heathrow via Delhi, arriving later the same day.
Extension – Chitwan National Park
Day 7Drive to Machan Wildlife Resort (4 hrs), a simply furnished jungle lodge within Chitwan National Park, for two nights on a full board basis. Access is by jeep and canoe. Afternoon Elephant Safari.
Day 8 Full-day jungle activities including nature walks, a jungle drive and elephant safari where there is the possibility of encountering the one-horned rhino, various types of deer, boar leopard and the elusive tiger.
Day 9 Fly from Bharatpur to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel Shangri-La.
Day 10 Depart to London Heathrow via Delhi, arriving later the same day.
