Itinerary 1 (up to Apr 2 2012)
Day 1Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Delhi.
Day 2 Morning arrival and transfer to the 4-star Royal Plaza (formerly the Ramada Plaza). Afternoon orientation tour of Delhi including Lutyens’ Delhi, India Gate, Raj Ghat and driving past the Red Fort.
Day 3 Morning drive to Agra (5 hrs) for a two-night stay at the Hotel
Wyndham Grand. An afternoon optional tour of Agra Fort, built by Emperor Akbar in 1565.
Day 4 Morning sightseeing tour of the Taj Mahal with an optional afternoon tour to Itmad-Daula.
Day 5 Drive to Jaipur (6 hrs) visiting the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri en route. Stay two nights at the Country Inn & Suites.
Day 6 Optional early morning balloon ride in the Amber Fort area. Visit the Amber Fort, City Palace and Observatory, viewing the Palace of the Winds.
Day 7 Head south to Ranthambore (4 hrs) for two nights at the Ranthambore Regency Hotel on full board. Optional afternoon game drive.
Day 8 Early morning and late afternoon game drives give the best opportunity to view the varied wildlife in the National Park. Between ‘safaris’ there is time to relax by the pool or explore the small town.
Day 9 Early morning transfer to Sawai Madhopur Railway station for the Jan Shatabdi Express (5 hrs in AC Chair Car) to Delhi and the transfer to the 4-star Royal Plaza for one night.
Day 10 Early afternoon flight to London arriving later the same day.
From Delhi to Bombay
Days 1–8 As above.
Day 9 An optional morning game drive or morning balloon ride (Oct-Mar). Evening transfer to railway station to join the overnight train* to Mumbai (13 ½ hrs).
Day 10 Morning arrival. Transfer to the 5-star Trident Nariman Point Hotel for overnight, located 100 metres from the ocean and close to Colaba in the heart of the city. Day at leisure.
Day 11 Optional morning tour to Elephanta Island by boat to view the cave temples. Afternoon included sightseeing tour of Mumbai visiting the Gateway of India, the ‘Prince of Wales’ museum, and driving along Marine Drive to Malabar Hill and Dhobi Ghat. Evening transfer to the airport for a farewell dinner and return flight to London Heathrow.
Day 12 Early morning arrival in London.
