Many people often forget that Southern India even exists at all. Yet its history, its varied culture, the greener landscapes and the beautiful coastline make any visit here a rich and diverse experience. The following itinerary travels from the eastern city of Chennai (formerly Madras) westwards across the state of Tamil Nadu, to the wildlife sanctuary of Periyar, the inland waterways of Kerala and the charming city of Cochin. En route explore the full majesty of the Southern Indian temples complex with one of the highlights of the trip is a cruise around the backwaters of Kerala.

VJV Special Event - Canoeing the Backwaters
The narrow canals of the Keralan backwaters can only be reached by smaller craft. We have therefore included a canoe ride to access these picturesque areas.

*Departures between Oct 2010 and Jan 2011 include 3 nights accommodation at Abad Turtle Beach Resort, making a 14 night itinerary.
