For many visitors, the ancient desert state of Rajasthan represents quintessential India. Dramatic forts, majestic palaces, ornate havellis, bejewelled Maharaja’s and the dazzling dress of the local rajputs.
Many royal residences have been transformed into small heritage hotels, usually by the original royal family, who have usually been in residence for up to 500 years. The former royal pursuit of hunting is replaced by a photographic hunt for the elusive tiger, whilst the monuments of the Mughal emperors and the British colonial heritage are not forgotten as you travel from India Gate at Delhi to the coast and the ‘Gateway to India’ at Mumbai, formerly Bombay.
VJV Special Event - Nimaj Palace
Stay at the historic Nimaj Palace heritage hotel with a traditional welcome, arrival on a bullock cart (!) and local music and dance on the rooftop. From May 2012 a private rooftop dinner with fireworks.
