Monday departures (Delhi to Mumbai)
Day 1 Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Delhi.
Day 2 On arrival transfer to 5-star Grand Hotel or similar for overnight. Enjoy a half-day panoramic tour of Delhi.
Day 3 Morning at leisure before a late afternoon transfer to the Indian Maharaja train for departure and dinner on board.
Day 4 After breakfast there will be visits to Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri and the iconic Taj Mahal with lunch at Hotel Trident. Rejoin the train for dinner and departure to Jaipur.
Day 5 Ascend the ramparts of the Amber Fort before a full-day sightseeing of Jaipur including lunch at a local palace hotel and visits to the City Palace and Observatory. A Gala dinner at the City Palace.
Day 6 Early morning and afternoon jungle safaris in this quintessential Rajasthani wildlife park, dominated by 1,000 year old fort and home to the elusive tiger. Lunch and Dinner on board.
Day 7 Continue to Udaipur, arguably Rajasthan’s most picturesque city famed for its lakes and palaces. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Pichola (water levels permitting) and sightseeing of the City Palace and Museum. Lunch and dinner on board.
Day 8 Arrive in Daulatabad, the city which gives access to the Ellora Caves. A visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site where Buddhist, Hindu and Jain temples have been carved from the vertical rock face. The most remarkable is the Kailash temple which is believed to be a replica of Shiva’s celestial abode at Mount Kailash in Tibet. Lunch and Dinner on board.
Day 9 Morning visit to the Ajanta Caves, another UNESCO World Heritage site famed for its rock cut cave temples. Dating from 2nd century BC the caves are set in a deep river canyon and contain masterpieces of art and sculpture. Lunch and Dinner on board.
Day 10 Breakfast on board before transferring to 5-star Trident Bandra Kurla
(Trident Nariman Point from 20 Feb) for overnight. En route to the hotel there will be a half-day sightseeing tour including Prince of Wales Museum, Marine Drive, Chowpatty Beach, Malabar Hill, Dhobi Ghat and the Gateway to India, built to commemorate the visit of King George V.
Day 11 Transfer to the airport for return flight to London Heathrow arriving later same day.
