Flight - 1 night. Amritsar - 2 nights. Dharamsala - 2 nights. Shimla - 2 nights. Delhi - 2 nights.

Day 1Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Amritsar via Delhi.

Day 2
Afternoon arrival. Two nights at Ranjit Svaasa Hotel.

Day 3 Visit the Golden Temple, volunteer kitchens and Jallianwala Bagh, scene of the 1919 massacre. Optional early evening Wagah Border ‘Changing of the Guard’ ceremony at the India/Pakistan border. Later attend the Palki ceremony at Golden Temple.

Day 4 Drive to Pongdam lake and nature reserve for lunch (3 hrs). Continue to Dharamsala (3 hrs / 1,700m). Spend two nights at the unpretentious but scenically located Cloud’s End Villa. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 Morning visit to Tibetan monastery, museum and library in McLeod Ganj, also known as Upper Dharamsala.

Day 6 Visit Kangra Fort and museum (see special event opposite). Drive to Shimla (8 hrs / 2,000m) for two nights at Hotel Clarkes, located on the Mall.

Day 7 Morning tour of Shimla including the Vice Regal Lodge Museum and the Mall.

Day 8 Take the Himalayan Queen ‘Toy Train’ to Solan (3 hrs). Continue to Kalka to join the Shatabdi Express train to Delhi (4 hrs), with dinner served on board. Stay two nights at Hotel Hilton Jannakpuri.


Day 9 Tour of Delhi including Lutyen’s India Gate, Parliament House, Raj Ghat, Gandhi’s home, Jama Mosque with view of the Red Fort and the UNESCO listed Qutab Minar and Humayun Tomb.

Day 10 Fly to London Heathrow arriving later the same day.
