Day 1
Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Kathmandu via Delhi.

Day 2 On arrival transfer to Hotel Shangri-La for three nights. Afternoon sightseeing of Boudhnath.

Day 3 Optional morning flight over the Himalayas and Mount Everest (weather permitting). Approx. cost US$170 – bookable locally. A sightseeing of Patan, Kathmandu including Durbar Square, the ancient Royal residential quarter and local bazaars, followed by a visit to Swayambunath.

Day 4 A morning excursion to Pashupatinath followed by Dhulikhel with its prime views of the Himalayas.

Day 5 Sightseeing of Bhadgaon, timeless and almost medieval, a 9th-century Newari city. Continue to Nagarkot (2,100 m) for two nights at Hotel Bhangeri Durbar.

Day 6 Early morning start to view the sunrise over the mountains, on a clear day Mt. Everest can be seen. Afternoon walk around the hillsides of Nagarkot.

Day 7 Fly to Varanasi for two nights at Hotel Ramada. Evening visit to the Ghats to see the Ganga Aarti and Pooja ceremony on the banks of the River Ganges.

Day 8 An early morning boat ride on the Ganges to watch the morning prayer ceremonies. Tour of Varanasi. Visit Sarnath, one of the major Buddhist centres in India dating back to the 4th century BC.

Day 9 Fly to Khajuraho for overnight at the Ramada Plaza Hotel.

Day 10 Visit the elaborately carved western temple complexes, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Drive to Orchha (5 hrs) for overnight at Hotel Amar Mahal.

Day 11 Visit Orchha Fort. Shatabdi Express from Jhansi to Agra (air-conditioned Chair Class). Two nights at Hotel Clarks Shiraz.

Day 12 Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal followed by a tour of Agra Fort. Optional visit to Itmad-Daula (the ‘Baby Taj’) and the Mughal garden with views across the river to the Taj Mahal.

Day 13 Drive to Jaipur (6 hrs), the capital of the desert state of Rajasthan, visiting en route a stepwell and the abandoned Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri. Two nights at Hotel Diggi Palace.

Day 14 Optional early morning Balloon ride in the area of Amber Fort. Visit Amber Fort, the City Palace with its fine Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, the Observatory and view the Palace of the Winds. Optional Sound & Light at Amber Fort.

Day 15 Drive to Delhi (6 hrs) for a two-night stay at the Hilton Janakpuri Hotel.

Day 16 A full-day tour of Old and New Delhi including Humayun's Tomb.

Day 17 Early afternoon flight to London arriving later the same day.
