Following a period of sustained visitor increase to Vietnam, early signs are that 2010 will attract lower numbers with the main sites less busy. We have therefore been able to negotiate reductions on original tariffs of up to £700 for selected departures, now extended to the end of the year.
This is the ideal chance to travel from Saigon to the breathtaking landscapes of Ha Long Bay and the faded glory of French colonial Hanoi. Modern-day Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant, bustling city, contrasting with the intricate waterways and tranquillity of the nearby Mekong Delta. Capital Hanoi enjoys a slower pace of life; its tree-lined avenues and French-influenced architecture sit alongside ancient temples and pagodas. Nearby Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site is host to over 3,000 rocky islets, spectacularly jutting from the emerald-green waters.
The ancient capital of Hue lies in a strategic position in the centre of the country and was home to the Nguyen Dynasty until 1945, their legacy apparent in its opulent palaces. South of Hue, on the country’s beautiful central coastline is the former port of Hoi An, a rich architectural fusion of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and European influences.
