Day 1Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Ho Chi Minh City via Bangkok.
Day 2 Transfer to the 5-star Caravelle Hotel for two nights.
Day 3 Half-day city tour including the Reunification Palace and Cathedral.
Day 4 Embark on your Pandaw vessel at My Tho, the hub of the delta. Moor near Cai Be and take a trip by sampan boat.
Day 5 Visit Cai Be and its floating market before cruising on sampan boats through the backwaters. Visit a Catholic monastery. Overnight at Chau Doc.
Day 6 Travel by local ferry to visit a tribal village and catfish farm. Cross the border and moor overnight.
Day 7 Visit Phnom Penh by private cyclo. The city has several impressive wats (temples) and the National Museum is a highlight. Optional afternoon excursion to the killing fields and Tuol Sleng genocide museum.
Day 8 Sail up the Tonle River to Kampong Chhnang (during ‘high water’, approx. Jul-Nov, stop at Preak Dom Bridge and continue by coach). A motor boat excursion into the lakeside wetlands reveals a stunning variety of birdlife.
Day 9 Cruise past the Mekong’s timeless villages. Stop at Peam Chi Kang to visit the wat and school.
Day 10 Visit the hilltop temple of Wat Hanchey and the holy mountains of Phnom Pros and Phnom Srei, Wat Nokor, the eco village of Cheungkok and the Kampong Cham orphanage.
Day 11 Transfer to Siem Reap. Visit the Roluos group of temples. Three nights at the 5-star Le Meridien Angkor Hotel. Dinner and entertainment.
Days 12 & 13 Visit the temples of Angkor, former capital of the Khmer Empire.
Day 14 Fly from Siem Reap to Bangkok and connect with the flight to London arriving later the same day.
Extension – Bangkok &/or Hua Hin
Three nights in Thailand at the centrally-located 5-star Amari Watergate in Bangkok. Alternatively, relax for four nights at the Centara Grand Beach Resort Hua Hin (formerly the Sofitel Central Resort), a 5-star colonial-style building set in magnificent tropical gardens on the Gulf of Siam.
