Ticket to Lhasa
A journey by rail to the ‘roof of the world’ in Tibet and also visiting Beijing, Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai
Day 1 Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Beijing.
Day 2 Transfer to the 3-star Donfang Hotel for three nights.
Day 3 Visit Tian An Men Square, the Forbidden City and Summer Palace.
Day 4 Visit the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Peking Duck dinner.
Day 5 Fly to Xian for two nights at the 4-star Hotel Garden. Visit the Wild Goose Pagoda and City Wall.
Day 6 Full-day excursion includes the Terracotta Warriors and Great Mosque. Tang Palace dinner and show.
Day 7 An early transfer to board the train to Lhasa via Xining and Golmud. Lunch and dinner on board.
Day 8 After breakfast and lunch on board reach Lhasa in the late afternoon. Transfer to the 3-star hotel Yak or Kyichu for a three-night stay.
Day 9 Visit the great Potala Palace, Drepung monastery* and the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama at Norbulingka.
Day 10 Visit the temple of Jokhang, Sere (Yellow Hat sect) monastery and Barkour Market.
Day 11 Travel to Tsedang. Visit the Yongbulakang Palace and Tradruk Temple and overnight at the 3-star Hotel Zedang.
Day 12 Fly to Chengdu for an overnight stay at the 4-star Yinhe Dynasty Hotel. Enjoy a leisurely walk along Jinli Street, in ancient times one of the busiest of the commercial boulevards in the kingdom of Shu.
Day 13 Morning tour of the Giant Panda Breeding Research Centre Afternoon flight to Shanghai. Transfer to the
New Asia Hotel
for two nights.
Day 14 A full-day tour in Shanghai includes the Jade Buddha Temple, Old Town, Yuyuan Garden, Bund and Nanjing Road. Evening acrobatic show.
Day 15 Transfer to the airport for the return flight to Heathrow, via Beijing.
*Itinerary Note
Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery are closed due to renovation. We are unsure how long this work will take to complete. Will be replaced with sightseeing to Ramochi Temple, Tibet Museum, Ani Tsamkung Nunnery (or similar).
