Highlights of China

Visiting the Forbidden City and Summer Palace in Beijing, the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army at Xian, the water gardens of Suzhou, Shanghai and Nanjing

9 nights from £1335

The improvement and integration of air services in China and a special tariff negotiation have enabled this arrangement, encompassing, in little more than a week, the great cities of China through the ages - Beijing, Xian, Shanghai and Nanjing. In Beijing explore the stately halls and warren-like living quarters of the former Imperial Palace and Summer Palace and view the engineering achievement that is the Great Wall.

In Xian the visitor is transported to the origins of its history and greatest archaeological attraction, the Qin dynasty terracotta warriors. The famed gardens of Suzhou contrast with Shanghai's dramatic modern architecture and 19th-century Bund whilst Nanjing, the ancient capital under the Ming emperors boasts a modern triumph, the Yangtse River Bridge.

Through all this China's rural scenery adds to the overall enchantment to the arrangement.
