Day 1 Fly overnight from London Heathrow to Beijing.
Day 2 Transfer to the 4-star Radisson Blu Hotel for three nights.
Day 3 Visit the Forbidden City and Tian An Men Square, then the Summer Palace with a short lake cruise. Evening Peking Opera performance.
Day 4 An excursion to the Great Wall and Ming Tombs. Peking Duck dinner.
Day 5 Visit the Temple of Heaven and Lama Temple. Fly to Nanjing for two nights at the 5-star Jinling Hotel.
Day 6 Visit the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum, Yangtse River Bridge, Museum, Confucius Temple area and market.
Day 7 Travel to Suzhou by train. Visit the Garden of the Master of the Fishing Nets and Garden of Couples for tea entertainment followed by a short boat ride. Overnight at the 4-star Bamboo Grove Hotel.
Day 8 A morning cruise along the Grand Canal to Zhouzhang before continuing to Hangzhou. Two nights at the 4-star Hotel Holiday Inn Hangzhou. Evening free.
Day 9 Visit the West Lake, Six Harmonious Pagoda, Lingyin Temple and Meijiawu Tea Garden.
Day 10 Transfer to Shanghai for two nights at the 5-star Broadway Mansions or Crowne Plaza hotel. Afternoon visit to Nanjing Road and evening acrobatic show.
Day 11 Visit the Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple and the Bund. Evening free.
Day 12 Visit the Shanghai Museum before flying to Yichang or Wuhan. Transfer to the MV Katarina for a four-night cruise.
Day 13 Pass through Xiling gorge and the Three Gorges Dam lock. Visit the Dam project site.
Day 14 An excursion to the Lesser Gorges or Shenong stream. Cruise through the Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge.
Day 15 Continue cruising and visit Shibaozhai Pagoda or Fengdu.
Day 16 Arrive in Chongqing. Disembark and travel to Dazu to visit the Buddhist Caves. Continue to Chengdu for overnight at the 5-star Hotel Tibet. Dinner with Tibetan folklore performance at the hotel.
Day 17 Visit the Panda Breeding Research Centre, home to more than 50 pandas. Afternoon flight to Xian. Stay two nights at the 4-star Grand Mecure Hotel.
Day 18 Visit the Terracotta Army and Great Wild Goose Pagoda. Special city wall ceremony and later, evening Tang Dynasty dinner and show.
Day 19 Visit the Shaanxi Provincial History Museum before flying to Guilin for an overnight stay at the 4-star Park Hotel.
Day 20 A half-day cruise on the scenic Li River. Fly to Hong Kong for two nights at the 4-star City Garden or Kouloon Hotel.
Day 21 An included guided tour of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, including the historic Victoria Peak funicular, a sampan ride, a crossing by star ferry and a tram ride.
Day 22 Late evening overnight flight to London Heathrow.
Day 23 Arrive in the morning.
Travel in China
Our 4 and 5-star hotels generally include a restaurant, bar/coffee shop and Englishspeaking reception staff. Accommodation is in air-conditioned rooms with private facilities, hairdryer, telephone, mini-bar and satellite TV with tea making facilities and complimentary mineral water (not in Hong Kong). Included meals in China are at the hotel or in local restaurants and generally offer a selection of Chinese dishes with a drink. When internal flights are during meal times, separate meals will not be provided pre/post flight. Transportation is in private air-conditioned vehicles with local guides accompanying all tours (except on flights).
