Day 1 Fly London Heathrow to Istanbul. Transfer to the 5-star Crowne Plaza Hotel for one night. Enjoy a special ‘Ottoman Dinner’.
Day 2 Board the Danube Express for three nights. Enjoy dinner on board. Travel along the Bosphorus, and onwards to Bulgaria.
Day 3 Morning arrival in Kazanlak includes visits to a Thracian tomb and the Shipka Memorial Church. Lunch on board. Cross the Shipka Mountain Pass to the ancient capital of Bulgaria, Veliko Turnovo. Visit Tsarevets Hill. Dinner on board as the train heads north into Romania.
Day 4 Arrive in Brasov for a visit to ‘Dracula’s Castle’. Lunch on board. Continue to Sighisoara for a walking tour. Evening departure for Hungary. Dinner on board.
Day 5 At Kecskemét, free time to explore the city. A Puszta horse show at Lajosmizse, then lunch as you travel to Budapest. Disembark and transfer to the 5-star
Budapest Hilton Hotel for one night.
Day 6 A morning city walking tour of historic Buda, visiting Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion. Return flight to London Heathrow.
Pre-tour extension – Istanbul
Two nights at the 5-star Crowne Plaza Hotel. Includes
St. Sofia, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Egyptian and Grand Bazaars, Topkapi Palace including the harem and Treasury, and a cruise along the Bosphorus.
Post-tour extension – Budapest
Two nights at the Hilton Hotel Budapest including a Danube cruise and city tour visiting the Citadel viewpoint, Heroes’ Square and City Park with entrance to Parliament and St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
