Quinta Bela Sao Tiago

Constructed with a commanding position overlooking the atmospheric ‘old town’ of Funchal, the enchanting Quinta Bela Sao Tiago manor house was originally built in 1894. Recently remodelled and expanded to create the present hotel, in the foreground sits the elegant swimming pool, built into a terrace that overlooks a swathe of banana trees. Breakfast is taken in the manor house conservatory overlooking the hotel’s terrace and pool, and dinner is served in the manor house’s original dining room. Additional facilities include a jacuzzi, sauna, fine gardens and a cocktail bar. All 64 air-conditioned rooms have private facilities, TV and mini-bar.

Quinta da Bela Vista

The original five-star quinta on Madeira, a former manor house dating back to 1844, the Quinta da Bela Vista is situated in a tranquil spot just outside of Funchal, surrounded by extensive walled gardens. The Bela Vista, although recently restored and extended, retains the feeling of a private house with fine paintings and beautiful antique furniture in many of the rooms, dining and public areas. There are two restaurants including the Casa Mae, housed in the original building and decorated with authentic antiques, tapestries and artwork. Leisure facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness room and stunning gardens. There are 89 rooms furnished with meticulous attention to detail and with private facilities, air-conditioning, cable television and 24-hour room service.
