Sorrento & the Romans

The Sorrentine Peninsula offers the most diverse range of excursions of any region of Italy. Where else can you travel 2000 years in one day, visiting the Roman cities of Pompeii and its neighbour Herculaneum or drive along the Costiera Amalfitana to the maritime republic of Amalfi. In addition there are optional tours to the Isle of Capri, an ascent of Vesuvius, the second largest volcano in Europe and the vibrant city of Naples which stands in its shadow. This arrangement has the added advantage of being based at a family-run hotel close to the bustling heart of Sorrento with its elegant shops, characteristic bars and excellent restaurants.
