Day 3 An optional half-day excursion to Mount Etna, one of the world’s largest volcanoes. View the smaller, extinct volcanoes and craters with an option to continue by cable car and jeep to the summit (£23 – cable car and jeep to the summit €50 payable locally).
Day 4 At leisure.
Day 5 Full-day optional excursion to Syracuse with its diversity of monuments spanning the Hellenic, early Christian, Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras (£32).
Day 6 Full-day excursion to the volcanic Aeolian islands – the port of Lipari and the black lava beaches of Vulcano (£48).
Day 7 At leisure.
Day 8 Transfer to the airport for the return flight to London Gatwick.
