Best known for its waterways, Venice was once the most notable-trading city in the world. Staying on a vessel therefore seems all the more desirable, particularly with the added benefit of easy-access to central Venice, and the opportunity to explore before and after the increased number of visitors at peak times of the day. With the high costs associated with Venice hotels during the summer, we are pleased to offer an August departure having chartered the MS Michelangelo exclusively for our clients. Our summer departure includes an additional night and thus one full day further for independent exploration or relaxation. Our well-located mooring at Riva Sette Martiri commands fine views across to San Giorgio Maggiore and Santa Maria della Salute, allows easy access to Castello and is just 15 minutes’ walk along the waterfront to
St. Mark’s Square.
The optional sightseeing programme includes St. Mark’s Square & Doge's Palace. In addition to sailing across the lagoon an optional visit is available to the islands of Burano and Murano. One day is spent sailing to Chioggia, a small, waterside port of Roman origin and once second only to Venice in the region – with architectural styles ranging from the Byzantine and Gothic to Baroque, further to which there is an optional excursion to Padua & the Basilica of St. Anthony.
VJV Special Event - Evening at a Doge's Palace
An optional evening at Palazzo Zeno (the former home of a Venetian Doge) including drinks, live performance of opera arias and classical music.
#Beer, house wine, fruit juice, tea, coffee and water are included during lunch and dinner.
† Excursion group sizes in Venice are limited to 30 (50 for Padua) although the vessel takes up to 156 passengers.
