Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Day 1 Fly from London Heathrow to Reykjavik and transfer to your chosen hotel for three nights.

Day 2 The full-day Golden Circle tour includes Thingvellir National Park, site of the old Viking Parliament, Geysir and Gullfoss waterfall.

Day 3 Optional ‘South Shore Adventure’ visiting coastal villages, waterfalls and original homesteads. Optional Northern Lights tour (Nov – Mar).

Day 4 Travel via beautiful Borgarfjördur and the hot springs of Deildar-tunguhver, the historic farm site at Reykholt and the falls at Barnafossar. Three nights at the Hotel Ólafsvík.

Day 5 Morning walk to the holy mountain of Helgafell. An optional cruise to the islands of Breidhafjördur with seafood buffet (included in 2009, not available Nov 08).

Day 6 Tour the Snæfellsnes Peninsula: the yellow sand, black lava beach and wooden church of Búoir, birdlife and rock formations of Djupárlónssandur and Snæfellsjökull.

Day 7 Return to Reykjavik for an overnight stay.

Day 8 Visit the geothermal Blue Lagoon for a refreshing swim in warm mineral-rich waters. Continue to the airport for the return flight.
