The waterways of France combine beautiful countryside with historic towns and villages without the hassle of road travel! The landscapes of Provence that so inspired Cézanne and Van Gogh and the scenery of the Rhône valley are best enjoyed from the river. Vienne was both a Roman and medieval provincial capital.
Lyon is the second city and undisputed gastronomic capital of France, its centre a UNESCO World Heritage site lying in part between the Rhône and Saône rivers. The most famous of the many beautiful bridges lies, of course, in historic Avignon, the main residence of seven Popes. The delta of the Rhône, France’s greatest river, has created the Camargue, one of Europe’s greatest nature reserves with 350,000 acres of wetlands, dunes and salt flats, home to its famous white horses.
† Beer, house wine, fruit juice, tea, coffee and water are included during lunch and dinner.
